Rescue breakdown cover

"Rescue Only" is available as detailed below, and it can easily be upgraded to any of these more comprehensive cover levels:

• Recovery
• Recovery and At Home
• Recovery, At home, and Onward travel
• Any of the above with European cover

Rescue Only cover is available for breakdowns occurring in the United Kingdom and the Republic of Ireland.

What is covered?

If you have broken down on a public road we provide the following:

• A Norwich Union Rescue patrol, an RAC patrol, or a contractor to assist you.
• Labour at the roadside.

If we are unable to repair the vehicle within a reasonable time or if our patrolman considers the repairs are unwise:

• We transport the vehicle to a destination of your choice within 10 miles. If you have no preferred destination, we take the vehicle to a nearby garage.
• Transport for you and up to seven passengers to the above chosen destination. (If there are more than five people this may require two separate vehicles. An adult from the covered vehicle must accompany any children.
• If you need to leave your vehicle at the garage we reimburse you for taxi fares up to 20 miles (a receipt must be obtained).

What is not covered?

• Any events listed in General exclusions
• Breakdowns within a quarter of a mile of your home or where you normally keep the vehicle.
• The costs of parts, fuel or other supplies
• Labour at any garage to which the vehicle is taken
• Towing costs for the whole distance if you wish to be taken to a destination further than 10 miles

• Towing following an accident, fire, theft or act of vandalism or other incident normally covered by your motor insurance. If you call us for assistance following such an incident and your motor insurance is with Norwich Union, we can arrange this for you.

  If your motor insurance is not with Norwich Union, you will be liable to pay us for the costs of removal. (Subject to the terms of your motor insurance policy, you may then reclaim these costs through your motor insurance.)
