Charitable Support - Breakthrough Breast Cancer

More than 40,000 women are diagnosed with breast cancer each year and over 1,000 women die from the disease each month. Although the incidence of breast cancer is increasing, the mortality rate is in decline. Breast cancer is the number one health concern for women in the UK, but it is not only women that are susceptible to the disease, men too can get breast cancer.
Breakthrough's vision is to create "a future free from the fear of breast cancer". Our work with Breakthrough aims to assist them in achieving this goals.
Norwich Union supports Breakthrough by matching, up to £100,000 a year, the money raised from crocus walks. These are sponsored walks undertaken by charity supporters across the UK on or around Mother's Day.
Funds raised from the walks go to the Breakthrough Research Centre, which houses state of the art equipment and some of the world's best scientists, all focused on identifying ways in which the fear of breast cancer can be reduced.
