What is Group Income Protection?

Norwich Union Healthcare's Group Income Protection Policy has been designed to offer you a greater level of protection, helping to reduce the impact on your business as a result of long-term employee sickness absence.1

Key benefits include:

  • Low cost - on average as little as 0.5% of payroll with discounts available2 for companies with Private Medical Insurance
  • Flexibility to tailor to company needs and budget
  • Cover available for different catagories of staff eg. all staff, office staff or senior management
  • Cover normally provides up to 75% normal earnings less the basic rate of State Long Term Incapacity Benefit (a minimum of 30% is required) up to a maximum £250,000 benefit
  • Payments can begin after 13, 26, 28, 52 or 104 weeks to dovetail with existing sick pay arrangements
  • Pension and/or employer's National Insurance (NI) contributions can be covered up to a certain limit
  • Access to a 24 hour GP Helpline and 24 hour Stress Counselling Helpline
  • Access to the online service Personal Health Manager providing advice to help lead a healthier lifestyle3
  • Payments can increase by 3%, 5% or Limited Price Index (LPI) Retail Price Index (RPI)4 to a maximum of 5% a year
  • Option to limit payment benefit term to 2, 3, 4 or 5 years
  • Straightforward claims process
  • Early intervention and access to guidance on rehabilitation and support to help towards a faster return to work
