“It is rarely if ever possible to predict the future and this was certainly true when I joined Norwich Union Healthcare in 1992. I was essentially healthy and hadn't any great plans to be otherwise. However, in 1996 I developed chest problems which took until 1998 to diagnose because I had a fairly unusual presentation of a relatively uncommon condition. Having the backing of a good health insurance policy has enabled me to resolve my complex health issues as quickly and effectively as possible by providing me with consistent access to the appropriate clinicians and medical services.
With regard to processing of claims, I have always found the claims department very easy to deal with and, if anything, NU has always erred on the side of generosity in my case.
Much as I find it difficult to quantify the contribution my healthcare policy has made to my life, I do know that it has enabled me to take advantage of both work and leisure opportunities which would otherwise have passed me by. I know that I have been able to enjoy a far better quality of life as a result of my healthcare policy than I would have had. Insuring myself as I did, when I did, is certainly one of the best decisions I ever made and it probably saved my life.”
