Third party, fire and theft van insurance cover
Our flexible policy options not only allow you to choose between comprehensive and third party fire and theft cover, but you can choose to include extra cover options to either type of van insurance policy.
Below are the details of the third party, fire and theft plan. If you wish to compare the benefits of both types of policy see our Summary of Cover section which details the two van insurance policies available to you along with the additional benefits you can add to your chosen plan.
What is covered?
- Loss of, theft or damage to your van
- Emergency Medical treatment
- Replacement locks
- Your liability to third parties
- Foreign Use
- Excesses
- What isn't covered
Loss of, theft, or damage to your van
If your van is lost, stolen or damaged, we will either:
- pay for your van to be repaired
- replace your van
- pay the amount of the loss or damage in cash
The same cover applies to:
- accessories and spare parts
- fixtures and fittings
- audio equipment which is away from your van*
*if this equipment:
- has been designed to be removed or partly removed from your van
- cannot work independently of your van
- has been temporarily removed for security or maintenance purposes
The maximum amount we pay is the market value of your van at the time of the loss.
If we know that you are still paying for your van under a hire-purchase or leasing agreement, we make any payment due, to the owner described in that agreement.
We will pay for the cost of repairing the glass in your van's windscreen, sunroof, windows or scratches to the bodywork caused by breaking glass. If you are only claiming for this, you will have to pay the first £60 of the cost of replacing the glass. This excess for glass:
- will not apply if the glass is repaired rather than replaced
- cancels out any other voluntary or compulsory excess that would otherwise apply to glass claims
We will reimburse any person using your van, for emergency medical treatment payments they have to make under the Road Traffic Acts.
We will pay the cost of replacing the following if the keys or lock transmitter of your van are lost or stolen
- affected locks
- lock transmitter and central locking system
- affected parts of the alarm/immobiliser or both
Your liability to third parties
We will pay any compensation costs and expenses you may have to pay as a result of you being legally liable for the following
- death or bodily injury to anyone else for an unlimited amount
- damage to anyone else's property for up to £1 000 000 for any or all claims arising from any one incident
If your van is the subject of a leasing or contract hire agreement we will insure the owner in the same way that we insure you under this section.
We pay the following legal costs if they relate to an incident under this section
- fees of solicitors we ask to represent anyone we insure
- fees of legal representatives we ask to defend anyone we insure
We cover only the minimum legal requirements while you are in a country that is a member of the European Union, this is usually the same as UK Third Party only cover.
You can extend your policy to provide Third party fire and theft cover while you are abroad, two options are available, 7 day cover or 21 day cover.
You pay an excess if your van (including its accessories, spare parts, fixtures and fittings) is lost, stolen or damaged as shown in the Summary of cover. Please check your quote for details.
Important noteThese excesses apply as well as any other voluntary or other compulsory excesses that may apply, please check your quotation for details.
